My Vulnerability Mantra

In order to start this week’s homework, I had to do something uncomfortable: Ask for help. From busy people. With a very short deadline.

Doing something new makes us vulnerable. This is one of my mantras, and I say it over and over again in my workshops, as participants hit the wall of resistance. I say it over and over to myself when doubt creeps in.

Resistance and doubt are just two of the many disguises that vulnerability takes.

Having a simple awareness of the fact that creating something new makes us vulnerable (you could substitute the work uncomfortable) helps keep fear in it’s appropriate place so new work can happen.

Doing something new makes us vulnerable.

How about you? What shapes and forms does your creative discomfort take? What disguise does vulnerability wear?
