[October 19, 2011 - Fairfax, CA]
The Halfway PointIt's been six weeks since I blanked the slate of this website, and in exactly six weeks from today, on Nov. 30, my work here will be done.
I had to double-check my calendar, because it seems like about six months worth of movement and clarity and unfolded here. Not something you can see, necessarily, because a lot of material, such as my visual art, has not been posted yet.
There is clarity in general about the content, which will help determine the navigation and content areas, along with the technology to drive it all. The structure of the site supports the content, and vice versa. In this experiment I'm putting it together and taking it apart, sort of like a puzzle. And, of course, it's happening live, so that adds an extra layer of...something. Pressure? Creative tension?
I manage another website, The Creative Entrepreneur, which started out as the site for my book of the same title. The blog was there before I started my personal site.
As the subject matter for LisaSonoraBeam clarified, a simultaneous clarity emerged for the other site. I saw more of what The Creative Entrepreneur site could be for other artists and self-employed creatives who want to thrive more and struggle less. Not just in the business aspect of their work, but the creative process of making it happen.
So you'll be seeing lots of changes and additions over there, too.
If you want to take a look at the first offering, that's the Creative + Practice online workshop. Eventually I'll find an elegant way to list the workshops on this site, I just haven't quite figured out my site navigation yet.
A lot more is going to emerge in the next six weeks. Kind of feels like warp speed. Thanks for coming along on this ride with me.
I really don't know much more than you do at this point how it will all work out. But I'm excited to see what it will be.
I think this is what Martha Graham meant when she said to "Keep the channel open".
If you want to stay tuned to the progress and evolution, please subscribe here.
If there is something of value that you are finding by reading and following this journey, I’d love to know. You may email me here. Who? / What? / Why? If you landed here from a link or something and are wondering what The Blank Slate is all about - the story begins here. You can learn more about Lisa Sonora Beam, the author, here.
Thank you and enjoy.
